This course was built on rolling terrain and has numerous mature trees that can affect your shots. The greens are large, and the fairways are tree lined. Water hazards come into play on five holes. John LaFoy redesigned this course back in 1991.

"A true hidden jewel"
If you ever get a chance to play this course then do it. It's longer than you think it is and it is a very tough course. The course is kept in excellent shape and the weekday cost to play is very reasonable. The membership cost is also very reasonable for someone who is looking for a moderately priced country club.

Mountain Valley Golf Course - Maple/Oak Course
"hidden gem"
Course was originally 18 but 9 new holes were added in the last few years. The three nines, oak, pine, and maple are all challenging with tight tree lined fairways with generous sized greens with a fair bit of undulation. Huge elevation changes on some holes offer great views of the surrounding PA countryside. Although not the longest course, although some holes are quite long it is easily the most difficult in the region due to the tightness and difficult putting greens. The greens are always in great condition so the difficulty I have with putting is assuredly not the course, It's all mine. Great value too, and a friendly and helpful staff makes these three nine hole courses a must when in the area.

Ellis Park Golf Course
"Ellis"
This course challenges you to hit your ball straight. The back nine should be a national forest. It takes a lot of hard work to post a 70 on this course. If your in Cedar Rapids and want to go golfing at a difficult course it doesn't get harder than this.

Timberlin Golf Club
"The epitome of a public golf course: Good time had by all!"
As a resident of Danbury, I have access to one of the best pieces of property graced with an 18 hole golf facility. Having played the game for almost 40 years,and most on municipal tracks, the pleasure of having such a wonderful, graceful design like Timberlin, right in the middle of CT, is remarkable. The Pro shop personnel, along with the friendly nature of the 19th hole, combine to offer any golfer, regardless of handicap, a truly enjoyable day!! Yes, I can and do play Richter Park, but the 45 mile drive to Timberlin, does not discourage a trip to play an equally fine 18 hole experience.
