The most awesome 9 hole facility I have ever played!!!, Sep 06, 2005

This course is unreal, not what you would expect for a 9 hole facility. Great clubhouse, friendly staff, and unbelievable layout. The greens are as true as any I have ever played. The course plays fair if you keep the ball out of the hazards. 4 Tee boxes would make it enjoyable for golfers of all skill levels. Must see this facility!!!!

Former dump site changed to links course that has challenges on every hole. I went par, birdy, birdy, and thought I was working my butt off. What fun!

My favorite layout in the Adirondacks, a course you can play 100's of times and never tire of. After a difficult first hole you are presented with good scoring opportunities on the front. Holes 10 thru 13 are as tough as they come and as scenic, they stick in the minds of golfers at every level. Take time to chat (or have a lesson) with John Hall, PGA pro and managing partner, I guarantee he'll be friends with at least one pro from your area.

"what about the greens"
What makes river forest a difficult course is their greens.They can put the pin placements where it is possible to three and four putt greens even if you play it everyday.Slopping greens make every putt a challenge. They also have added a water hazard to #3 making it impossible to reach in 2.With the addition of new tee boxes and several holes with where you can knock it OB good luck for all you 10 handicappers to try and break 90 on you first couple rounds.
