This course is very tight because of the tree-lined fairways. The signature hole is #10, a long 450-yard, par 4, requiring accurate shots up a fairway which is lined by out-of-bounds stakes. Tee times are only reserved for the weekends. This course was redesigned in 1922 by Pete Dye.

Old course, modern twists, May 16, 2004

I recently was a guest at the Country Club of Indianapolis. The course blew me away with its unIndianapolis rolling beauty. Only the Fort can match it for elevation changes and variability of holes. The Pete Dye touches are evident and factor in many shots. The elevated greens make one think of Pinehurst Number Two. The course is well under 7K yards, but still very challenging. I have played most of the areas best courses, including Crooked Stick, the Fort, Prairie View, etc., CCI easily ranks in that crowd. Given the opportunity to play it, one should not pass it up.

I thought the course, though lacking adequate scenery, compensated with its tight play. The members are quite friendly and the club provides for a nice weekend.

"Great little par 3 course"
This is a fantastic par 3 course for the money. The top nine is all par 3 with a great chance to work on the irons and putts. Water is present but not a threat for a straight drive. The bottom starts with an awesome par 4 that tees off from the hill behind the clubhouse. Reachable with a driver and accuracy. More water on the bottom nine that could cause some lost balls if you are not on your game. Greens are more than fair. Not to fast but depending on weather can be faster than they look. No sand around the holes and hopefully that will change in the future. I use this course frequently for training as well as a quick round of golf without the hassel of a larger course. The driving range is very well kept and the price for a bucket is the cheapest in town that I know of. The practice green is fantastic and allows for many different approaches to a hole to be practiced. The pro shop stocks many items including a complete PING fitting area. Refeshments, including soft drinks, food, and beer are avaialable at a cost designed to leave you money to come back and play another day. This course is a proud sponser of youth golf as well as senior golf. Very family oriented.

Westport Country Club, The
"Adirondack gem."
My favorite layout in the Adirondacks, a course you can play 100's of times and never tire of. After a difficult first hole you are presented with good scoring opportunities on the front. Holes 10 thru 13 are as tough as they come and as scenic, they stick in the minds of golfers at every level. Take time to chat (or have a lesson) with John Hall, PGA pro and managing partner, I guarantee he'll be friends with at least one pro from your area.
