This difficult course features large greens that are easy to three putt. Generally, the terrain is rolling, so you can expect some interesting lies in the fairways. There are several trees that can alter your shots, plus water hazards (ponds) come into play on three holes. Hole #6, a 208-yard, par 3, has a pond sitting in front of the well-bunkered green.

This has to be one of the most challenging courses I've ever golfed on. The rolling hills on some holes make it difficult to know where you should even be hitting the ball. This was the first time I golfed there so it was like playing in the dark. The next time I go it shouldn't be that bad. Beautiful landscape.

Great course-great value. The Par 3s are a treat. Lots of wooded holes, great scenery. A sporty course that tests shot making ability and decision making. Being straight off the tee is a necessity.

You won't find a better course in Central Wisconsin. For such a small town, in the middle of nowhere, you would never think there is such a gorgeous, well-maintained golf course. It is extremely affordable and worth the drive from Green Bay, Fox Cities, Wausau, or anywhere else!

"Best Kept Secret In Central VA"
Of all the courses I have played through out VA I would have to say this is one of the best kept secrets in Virginia. The greens are very fast but yet they hold very well. The vista's of the mountains on the back nine are breath taking. The #17 hole could one day be as comparable to one of the holes at Augusta or the TPC Sawgrass. Its and old club with alot of history set up in a beautiful historic town! If you can get your self and invitation to play it I would highly recommend it. Keep your head down and let it rip. Bill P.

This Course is set out to have you playing for par rather than birdie. Tricky bunkers, well placed trees, and water make the Bartow Golf Course frustrating at times. Minor elevation changes enhance play as do friendly people. Give it a try.

River Forest Country Club
"River Forest: A golfer's Golf Course."
Probably one of the most maligned course in Western Pennsylvania, and for good reason: River Forest is a very difficult layout, and not for Patzers who want to roll it up for a par or bogey, and not for long drivers who can find themselves with a 2 stroke penalty quickly. The course seems to have an uncanny, and sometimes eerie ability to locate and humble arrogant and inattentive golfers with triple or quadruple bogeys. Designed by original owner Wynn Treadway in the mid 60's, this classical purist believed in the straight ball and excellent short-game skills. Isn't that what golf should be about? Each par four has a specific landing area for the drives, otherwise one is penalized with line of sight problems or an uneven stance. This is usually followed by small, bunkered greens that require excellent putting skills. Although the par fives give some relief(At this point in your round, it is much welcomed!)the same applies to those greens as well. And these greens are more undulated than usual, to say the least, but that is the central character of this most challenging and beautiful golf course. If you like flat greens and wide fairways for your Jumbo driver, there are plenty of Public courses in the area for you. However,if you are a golfer and want to play the game as it should be played, then River Forest is for you. Just remember to bring your A game, some good wedges and just a little respect for an excellent golf course that, when you play well, it really means something. Beautiful is the word, so make sure you take a lot of time to look at the scenery. This usually has a calming affect that can enhance one's performance. Couple this with an extremely friendly and attentive clubhouse staff, will result in an exceptional golfing experience.
