This course features somewhat narrow fairways that are sparsely lined with large oak trees and defined by a standard but of rough. This facility has recently been ranked as the 4th best public course in California by "Golf Today" magazine. The large greens are moderately undulating, medium speed, and a couple of them are multi-tiered. The course was built on rolling terrain. The course's signature hole is #18, a 438-yard, par 4, which can be played in two ways. The first option is to play this dogleg left hole as it is designed, however, if you are brave, there is an island fairway that if you can reach with an accurate tee shot, making this a much shorter hole. The three forward tees are rated for men and ladies.

The track is long and challenging. Set in the lower CA foothills, this well maintained course winds through forests and creeks presenting a beautiful setting for golf.

Hilltop Golf Course
"TOUGH GREENS"
I live in the neighborhood so, I've played it many times. Very nice course. Be in shape if you're gonna walk it, though, it isn't called Hilltop for nuthin! Competitive rates, great conditon. These greens are TUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUFF. They're fun though, as is the whole course. Lotta trees lining the fairways, so you gotta keep it straight. Not a lot of water comes into play, just a few holes.

"Great track"
I love this course. Have probably played it as a guest about 8 times and every time I'm done, I can't wait to get back. Played it 2x last summer ('03), when there was a lot of rain out East, and despite that, still enjoyed it. Fairways are among the best conditioned I've ever seen. Greens are in great shape-- and not too big, so you get a lot of makeable putts, but there are a lot of subtleties to them. As for the layout, get your pars and birdies on the front 9 because the back is brutal. One is a straight out Par 5 and you think "this isn't too bad". Get off the tee straight on two. Four is a very good hole. 6 is a sneaky tough par4 dogleg left, and nine is a 450 yard par 4 (blue tees) that gets you geared up for the back. Not a bad hole on the back nine, plus it takes you out of the holes that wind through office buildings and puts you into wetlands. A lot of carry. Par 10-12 and you are ready for 13, a long par 4 with a 2nd shot carry to a green that is impossible to it and impossible to putt. The member I play with is a 5 handicap and he always says--"take your bogey and smile". 14-17 are no gimmes and 18 is a par 4 that demands a 250 yard tee shot, but this leaves you a 170-200 yard uphill approach from a downhill lie to a green that has more break than any other on the course. Clubhouse is nice, but doesn't seem big enough. I've been there on Summer Friday's and it always seems like they need more space. Food is awesome though.

Plum Hollow Country Club
"Plum a plum"
If you like a rollicking round of golf, Plum is the place for you. The par 3's each have a distinctive personality unto themselves, one apart from the other. They are like chapters in a delicious novel that unravels step by step in front of your very eyes. The par 4's all present daunting challenges for maintaining a par round, owing to clever fairway bunkering or something not seen in the approach that becomes clear only upon reaching the putting surface. The par 5's are spectacular, culminating in a finishing crescendo in holes 17 and 18. With any kind of match coming to a conclusion -- a five dollar nassau or a challenge match with the wife -- anything can happen on these last two holes...and usually does!!! The round is made complete by the singular service inside the locker room by the most respected club house attendant in the state of Michigan, Chewy.

Eagle Creek Golf Club
"Nothing Wrong With Eagle Creek"
I have golfed Eagle Creek many times over the past four years. The front nine holes are much different from the back nine. The front nine are wide fairways with very few obstructions and on a windy day, these holes can be as tough as any other holes in golf. Meanwhile, the back nine are just the opposite. The fairways are much more narrow and every hole except hole #13 is engulfed in trees. You must be very careful on the back nine because if you go in the trees you won't be making par on that hole. The wind is not so much a factor on the back nine but that's a plus since there is already so much to worry about. Still, it is a great course. If I had to make one complaint about this course, it is the fact that to just golf one round or even become a member the fees are a little ridiculous. It seems that most of the people who do or would like to golf there are locals and they can't afford to pay those type of fees. But again, that is my only complaint about this course. If I was asked to recommend one course to try, my answer would have to be Eagle Creek Golf Club in Willmar, Minnesota.
