This short course has three holes on the front nine that play on hilly, and the back nine is completely flat, narrow and quite challenging. The fairways vary from open to narrow, and the greens are medium in size and speed. Water hazards come into play on a few holes. "Golf for Women" rated this as the 10th best among "America's Best 'Women Friendly' courses." Monday is Seniors' Day.

Very fun course, Jul 02, 2006

This is my favorite public course in the Ithaca/Cortland area. Nice fairways and challenging greens that are well kept. The first 3 holes are nothing special but after that things get interesting. Holes 5-8 each have a character all their own. The back nine is like playing a totally different course. It is much flatter and more tree lined fairways, but just as fun as the front nine. One of the few reasonably priced courses in the area that is not just a mowed field with some trees.

Tight, gimmicky, hilly, and usually in poor condition. The front 9 is abysmal, the back 9 is much better. Not a very golf course. Go to Newman, Trumansburg, or Catatonk.

The best of the public courses in Ithaca. The only public course with quality boxes, fairways and greens. I love playing here. Very hilly, so plan on a cart.

There is nothing better to do on a warm summer evening than playing a few holes down on the POYCC golf course. The course is always kept in the best condition with improvements always being made where ever possible. The course is easy enough for the casual golfer, but has a variety of challenges that make it fun and competive. The best aspect of the course is the great atmosphere and senic views of classic New England in Long Island Sound. After playing with friends, returning to the club house is a great experience. The course is always alive and no matter what the circumstances it is always a good game of golf.

"Sunset is an awesome course!"
Sunset Hill is an awesome course. I play on a high school golf team, and its our practice course. But after season is over, we have to start paying to play golf again. The one thing that Sunset is good for is that it's cheap and reliable. I as a high school athelete, don't feel like paying 50 dollars to go play some course with a tee time that is just horrible. Sunset on the other hand has a low price thats friendly to the everyday golfer. So it might not be in the best shape, but its fun to play because there is no rush and its cheap to play. All in all, its an awesome course!

"Lastest Updates"
I've been a member for 20+ years and have a preference for this course. This course seems to have several improvements since the review up top. A large pond with fountain was added to the long par 5 #3, and several new tee boxes have been added for both the long-ballers and the seniors. The course is a challenge for most, especially the greens and tight fairways, but it also provides a really enjoyable 'walk in the park' for many. The course is often busy with couples walking the scenic tract. Seems a lot of people enjoy the league play as there are ladies leagues 3 days, evening leagues on 4 days, and a couples' league on Sunday afternoons that we have joined. Good course for good players, who enjoy the game.
