This is a well-maintained course with fairways that vary in width. There is a defined cut of rough and many water hazards on the course, so shot accuracy is at a premium. The large greens are somewhat sloped and their speeds are determined by the seasonal weather conditions. The signature holes are #9 and #18. These two holes share a connecting green, much like St. Andrews in Scotland, and there is a lake that comes into play on both holes, splitting the two fairways.

The brand new multi-million dollar renovation that jas been recently completed put's this course at the top of my list for best course in or around Jacksonville Florida.

Best place to play in Jax, May 17, 2004

There is not as much water as noted here. Challenging play for all levels. Private course. Played it over 200 times now with a 76 low twice. Not bad for a 13 HC. Course under full renovation with expected completion Sept 2004.

"short but challenging"
while the course is very short..there are a few holes that require good ball placement or you will end up in the water..hole #2;#6;#11;#12 and #14.....good for the short game as well and for the price you can't beat it; however depending on when you go play can be sometimes very slow.

The course is spectacular, both in scenery and in the variety of play that can be had -- from novice to expert. Tom Fasio did a great job, using natural elements beautifully. Watch out for the 4" rough! It is lush and can eat your balls so magically that they can NOT be found. Course management is excellent. Hazards are well maintained as are the fairways and greens. Most of the T-boxes are elevated and the views in the valleys include small waterfalls, hardwoods, mountain laurel and rhododendron covered hills with mountain vistas all around. The clubhouse offers wonderful sunsets and terrific food. Excellent additional amenities like a health club, tennis, practice areas. VERY nice bungalos for lease, nearby B&B, charming small town. Close to Asheville, Biltmore House, Grandfather Mountain, Greenville/Spartanburg airport, Appalachian Trail... We really love this area and this particular course.
