Delightful Donald Ross Challange, Feb 13, 2004

| This private course was designed by Donald Ross to be a resort course in the early twentieth century. It was purchased after World War II by locals and formed into a club known as San Jose Golf and Country Club and has been sucessfully maintained as the private club since. It is the home course to many prominent Jacksonville residents. One must be a member or guest to play.
It is a par 72. The greens are all adjacent to the tees, so that it can be walked easily. There are water hazards sprinkled throughout the course, which make it a dangerous layout for errant shots. The moderately fast greens are well maintained Burmuda and are sometimes puzzling with rolling configuration. A mature course--kept in excellent shape year-round. |
