Mendenhall Golf Course2101 Industrial Blvd Juneau, AK 99801 Phone: (907)789-1221
This par 3 course offers spectacular views of the majestic mountains, Mendenhall Glacier, and soaring eagles. The nearby streams are popular for watching salmon. The course, designed and managed by its owner, is constantly being updated. The design is similar to a Scottish links-style course because of its open fairways and thick rough.

| Played this course in 2004. Was a fun little par three, greens were terrible but that's to be expected, course is essentially flat but challenging, requiring accuracy and not length. Went back a couple days later to play it again. Since the longest hole is only 190 yards, rather than carry a full set of clubs (which isn't at all necessary) I took a 7 iron and a putter. THEY WOULDN'T LET ME PLAY UNLESS I CARRIED AT LEAST TWO WOODS AND A HALF SET OF IRONS!! I've played my home course in Kansas (over 6500 yards) with just a 7 iron and putter and shot in the low 80s. This has got to be one of the dumbest local rules I've ever heard of. |

| This course is not exactly in very good condition. But the bad course conditions make it one of the most challenging courses you'll play. There are alot of what appear to be dried up creeks that have very overgrown shores and if you manage to miss the wide fairways, you'll be looking at one of the most difficult shots in your life. If your visiting Juneau, they provide you with clubs, balls, and tees. This one of the the funnest courses you'll ever play, even with the tough course conditions. I urge you if you have time to play the course, DO IT!! |
