These two courses are very different. The Kona Course is a seaside course and the Alii Course was built on an inland hillside. There are lava areas on both courses, which are played as lateral hazards. Both courses have water hazards in play. The Ocean Course has several holes overlooking the ocean. The tee on hole #13 is near a blow hole. An ancient Hawaiian slide is located between holes #1 and #10 on the Alii Course. The signature hole on the Alii Course is #14, a 171-yard, par 3, requiring a tee shot from an elevated tee over a lake to the green. The fairways on the courses are fairly wide and the greens large and fast. The courses were awarded a three-star rating in 1994 by "Golf Digest." The green fees after noon are the same for everyone. The 5,841-yard men�s tees on the Alii Course also have a ladies' course rating of 74.7 and a slope of 138. The 6,155-yard men's tees on the Kona Course also have a ladies' course rating of 75.9 and a slope of 129.

Bing Maloney Golf Course - Eighteen Course
"Bing Maloney -- a decent public course"
Bing is a fairly easy course that is fairly easy to get on. There are a few holes that are semi-challenging, but not many. This course is fairly long and has lots of old trees boardering the fairways. Play the Blue tees for a more challenging round.

Shadow Hawk Golf Club
"Fall Visit"
Shadow Hawk is a beautiful venue. The course is hard to rate in the middle of winter when the trees are not in bloom and leafy. The fairways are open and more than fair. The greens are as challenging as they come. They are filled with undulations that make straight putts rare. The greens roll fair and pretty fast. The clubhouse is very classy and comfortable (in winter, nicer than the course itself). I would hope to play this course again in summer (heat and all) to see the beauty. It was still fun and challenging for this 15 handicap player,

Knollwood Golf Course
"A womans point of preference"
Very challenging course for women. Men are impressed with women who can hit stright drives and consistant fairway shots onto the green. Men have a problem at Knollwood because of their ego gets the better of them.
