The Prince Course at Princeville is part of the Princeville Resort located on the island of Kauai. The resort was named to "GOLF Magazine's" 1998 list of "Gold Medal Resorts." The course was designed with the Scottish links-style in mind. The deep ocean blues, hotel amenities, and great Hawaiian vistas not only make for a great game of golf, but also an incredible trip. This resort is more than just another vacation spot. There are five sets of tees on every hole, and from each one you can see the ocean. This is one of the most difficult course designs in the state. This course features many deep ravines and plenty of hills. The undulating greens vary in shape and size. Hole #1, a 448-yard, par 4, was voted one of "The Best 18 Holes You Can Play" by "Golf Digest" in 1997. This is one of the few double-dogleg par 4's you will see. It is downhill off the tee and downhill to the green, but with a serpentine stream lined with tropical undergrowth dictating an all-carry approach to the green, or a bail-out pitch to the fairway. "Golf Digest" rated this course 30th in the category of "Top 75 Upscale Courses" for 1996. The same publication ranked it the 2nd "Best in State" course in 1995-96, and 1st in 1997-98. It was also rated 66th by "Golf Digest" among "America's 100 Greatest Courses," for 1997-98. In addition "GOLF Magazine" rated it 19th best under the 1998 category of "Top 100 You Can Play in the U.S." "GOLFWEEK" awarded it 35th on its list of "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" in 1997, 40th in 1998 and 32nd in 1999. The Makai Course at Princeville is also available for play. You can reach the Makai Course pro shop by calling (808) 826-3580. For tee time reservations up to thirty days in advance, call (800) 826-4400. There are separate resort and hotel green fee rates available for guests.

Don't skip this Golf Course!, Oct 02, 2004

I played the course last summer and had a great time! The scenery is breathtaking, the course was in great condition and the staff was really helpful and understanding... Since I'm fairly new to the sport and at times had hurry a bit to keep up with the group in front of us. Overall.. Don't miss this beautiful course. If it fits into your schedule and budget, I highly recommend it. Jay @ www.dataste.com

Breathtaking, Jul 07, 2004

You will embark on one of the most unique golf experiences of your life when you set foot on this course. The views are spectacular and the golf challenging and punishing. Take your conservative game with you, because the penalties are severe if you stray from the fairways. Expect to score 5 to 10 strokes more than you usually do, but it is worth every penny of the green fee. You can find discounts online if you look. We used the Golf Hawaii card to play the course at a considerable discount. You will tee off over ravines and into lush valleys, while gazing into the Pacific and at the surrounding mountain landscapes that define Kauai. See if you can reach the par 5 number 10 in 2. I tried and ended up barely avoiding the array of traps guarding the green from anything less than perfect. Chipped on in three and was glad to get out with a par, which is a good score on any of the holes. A must play for any golfer visiting the Garden Island. Jack Nicklaus's Kiele Course at Kauai Lagoons is another amazing round available on this island.
