This is the outstanding public course where the Senior PGA Tour's Royal Caribbean Classic was held in 1994. The scenic course was built on Key Biscayne Island. The fairways are wide and generous, and the greens are large and medium speed. Water hazards (lakes, canals, and the bay) have been incorporated into the designs of over half the holes. The course was renovated by Robert von Hagge in 1993. "Golf Digest" chose the course 39th in the category of "Top 75 Public Courses" for 1990, and 62nd in the same category for 1996. It was also selected by the same publication as the 22nd "Best in State" course for 1997-98.

Forget Doral, Jul 29, 2005

This is the best course (track) in south Florida -- better than Doral. Conditions of the fairways could be a little better, but the greens are very good. Besides a great track, you'll see great wildlife including lizards (big).

I've had the pleasure of playing this course many times and i never get sick of it. It is one of the most enjoyable lay-outs i have ever played. It is tough but fair and has a number of very memorable holes. Of particular note are numbers 7,10,11 and 12. Don't skip this one you won't be disappointed.

"Delightful Donald Ross Challange"
This private course was designed by Donald Ross to be a resort course in the early twentieth century. It was purchased after World War II by locals and formed into a club known as San Jose Golf and Country Club and has been sucessfully maintained as the private club since. It is the home course to many prominent Jacksonville residents. One must be a member or guest to play. It is a par 72. The greens are all adjacent to the tees, so that it can be walked easily. There are water hazards sprinkled throughout the course, which make it a dangerous layout for errant shots. The moderately fast greens are well maintained Burmuda and are sometimes puzzling with rolling configuration. A mature course--kept in excellent shape year-round.

Witch Golf Links, The
"Challenging and well maintained"
The Witch Golf Course near Myrtle Beach is a challenging and scenic course. Unlike other courses nearby that were built in clear cut areas, the Witch is in part forest and part swamp. One hole in particular is memorable, you drive onto an island fairway, then you use a medium iron to an island green, with swamp in all directions. Wild game is seen throughout the course area. If I lived in the Myrtle Beach area, I would obtain a membership at the Witch.
