This course used to be a regulation nine hole layout until nine new holes were added in 1997. The old nine features relatively flat fairways, which are wide with very few trees lining the sides. The greens are large and flat. Water hazards come into play on three of the front nine holes. The new back nine is more challenging then the old nine holes and was cut out of the surrounding forest. Little Wildcat Creek can be found meandering throughout the back nine and coming into play on six holes. The course features narrow fairways on rolling terrain. Accuracy and precise ball placement is crucial to achieving a good score. The signature hole is the #7, a 173-yard, par 3, which features an elevated tee, as well as elevated green. The hole requires a tee shot through a narrow, tree-lined fairway and over a creek to a medium-sized green.

Great course layout that's fun to play, Apr 13, 2004

Great design / layout w/ well manicured fairways and greens that tend to be fast. Crushed limestone sand traps are well cared for, provide consist shots, and add to beauty of course. Back nine has many more trees and requires consistent, well hit drives as creeks / ponds are involved in the layout on six of the nine holes. Ponds or creeks are involved in 5 of the nine front nine holes. Driving range, putting green, chipping green, and a nice new clubhouse available for your usuage. Well worth the time & money to play.

Royal Oak Resort & Golf Club
"More for Less"
Royal Oak is hidden gem. It offers more golf for less money than any other course in the area. This Dick Wilson designed track has elevation changes and terrain not found on many Florida courses. Sadly, it needs an influx of cash to add to its rating. The two biggest problems that I see are the lack of sand in the bunkers and the club house in need of renovation. You will find the course a great value and the staff congenial.

Nice Range, a great Par three Chip and Putt, if you don't have time for a full game. Very helpful staff. This is a true family center. Full Course you can learn on and still have fun, nice Chip and Putt and mini-golf for the kids. A fair price for the working man. No I don't own the place.

I first played this course in the winter season and I was really impressed with the condition it was in. The fairways which are Bermuda were dormant, but very well maintained. The layout was quite challenging, especially the 2nd hole which required a nice fade over trees which would put you in position for a nice approach to an elevated green. For those without a fade in your bag, this hole would stretch your imagination and skill level to attempt to go for it in two. The remainder of the front-side consisted of two other dog-legs to the right which again would require a nice fade shot in order to reach in regulation. The finishing hole on the front side is fairly long, but straighforward - again another dog-leg to the right. On the back side, your course management skills are challenged very early on the second hole. From an elevated tee shot you can attempt a 240+ drive to an elevated fairway. If not executed properly, you can find your tee shot in the woods (left OB), in water (right and short). This hole requires good course management and disclipline. The remainder of backside plays either up or downhill with water coming into play on several of them. The greens are medium to large, but fair. Overall, I was challenged on this course and have considered joining this course in the the spring. Rates are very affordable.
