Budget Golf at Lakeview CC..., May 05, 2006
reviewer: Greg Bartz from Houston, TX
I walked Lakeview CC yesterday (05/04/2006) for $10.83 (with a cart it would have been ~21.00 (too much!!)). For your average golfer Lakeview is a few notches above a goat pasture. For the beginning golfer or budget golfer, Lakeview is a fair course. The layout is non-standard with three par 5s on the front and three par 3s on the back. Like most SE Houston courses, the course is flat. There are no sand traps and water comes into play on a few holes. The greens are small, turtlebacked with some undulation. There was some dollar weed creeping in (that they were treating as I was playing - a good thing) on the greens. When I played the greens were soft. The fairways are st. augustine, spacious, hard and dry. I had several crazy bounces on good drives that bounced well off the fairway. With water being the exception, it should take some "effort" to lose a golf ball within the course boundries. There were only a few other groups on the course (I played on a Thursday). I liked the course for the varity of hole length and I'll likely play there again. For the money, Pasadena, San Jacinto, and Glenbrook are similar priced and better courses for walkers but Lakeview CC is worth a try.
