This is a Scottish link design golf course consisting of mounds and undulating greens, which is very uncharacteristic of Central Florida. This is currently the most improved golf course in Polk County. There are about ten ponds that come into play on the last seven holes. The signature hole is #15, with a bunker in the middle of the green.

A nice short course, Feb 03, 2004 |
| reviewer: Bill

| I have played this golf course for the last 10 years, 2 to 5 times each year at various time, usually in the winter. Sandpiper is a short course with plenty of par 3's and short par 4's. The layout makes for a slow round on the front side on a busy day. It usually opens up on the back, which is the better 9 holes. Greens are in good condition year round. Course gets more play in the winter when the ajoining retirement community is fully occupied. Long hitters have no advantage as any long drive (250 or more) puts you too close to the greens. Use irons and 4 woods off most of the tees. Any drive 200 yards down the middle is great for this course. Some holes feel too close to the homes. Can be a real challenge when windy. |

Nice change of pace, Jan 27, 2004 |

| This course is a nice change of pace. I have played it every year for the last 5 years for a total of about 15 rounds. The water was way down for a few years and when it was the course was not very nice to look at. Greens are small and challenging. The course is fun to play and reasonably tough. Having a sand trap in the middle of a green is flat out stupid. That hole (# 15) is definately my least favorite hole. The par five # 14 along the road seems to always be in bad shape. Outside of holes #4 , #14 and #15 I like the course . |
