This course features water hazards that come into play on seven holes. Furthermore, sand bunkers have been positioned throughout the course. The signature hole is #2, a 355-yard, par 4, requiring a solid tee shot between the out-of-bound stakes on the left and the trees on the right, then an approach shot to an island green. The average-sized greens are slightly sloped and have medium speed. All the fairways are defined by a standard cut of rough. During the late afternoons, the wind conditions can add to the difficulty of this course. The new back nine opened in April, 1996. The eighteen hole green fee is good for all-day play. Tee times are reserved for weekends and holidays only.

Challenging but fun, Aug 14, 2005

I like the scenery as well as the placement of the greens. It isnt like many typical courses were you play straight away off of adjoining fareways to see how far the you can hit the ball. Instead you have to think about your tee shot as well as your second shot. Not every fareway lets you see the green unless you have earned a look. Long ball hitters can definately tame this course. Not worried about politics, just hitting the ball well.

Couple of Challenging Holes, May 10, 2004

This course is usually well maintained and it has a couple of challenging water holes where the hole is over the river. Price has been raised though due to Lampasas trying to raise revenue to support a domed civic center which is not supported by the county inhabitants. Play in Burnet instead as you have a better course for less money.

Northeast Harbor Golf Club
"Seasonal member"
NEHGC is on the pleasant island of Mt.Desert in Downeast Maine. I live in Seal Harbor 6 mos. a yr and join the club as a seasonal member. The play is $255 and excludes June 26 thru Sept 6. It is by far the best deal on MDI and throughout the downeast region. The course is never crowded, and you can expect the service in the pro shop to be excellent. Beautifully maintained greens and fairways with the backdrop of surrounding mtns. and countryside make this course a well kept secret on busy MDI. Make a tee time after Sept. 30 to enjoy incredible foliage and ideal temperatures.

"Good Value"
I highly recomend this course for begining golfers and intermediate golfers alike. Although the fairways are not always in good condition, the greeens always are. 15 of the holes are par 3s and the rest are short par 4s. It's very inexpensive ($7 on weekdays!) and a good value. Its almost never crowded and you don't have to rush. Its easy enough for young golfers and allows more experienced golfers to work on their short game with a wide variety of par 3s (from 100 to 210 yards) Most of the holes are around 140-150 yards. I play at this course more than any other for a good reason, the value.

The course has an aura of old. Once a great Tour course it now seems to lacking in updates and monitary investment.

Nantucket Golf Club, The
"Scottish Links meets American Smooth"
A Great course, with wonderfully challenging tee shots and treacherous greens. Beware as when the wind blows, this is as difficult a golf course as any scottish links. A warm friendly and welcoming clubhouse with exceptional service and attention to detail, an guest accomadation that rivals any of the best 5 star hotels the U.S has to offer.
