This desert course has many sand bunkers incorporated into its design, and water hazards come into play at least four times. The club is the annual host to the PGA Tour'sInvensys Classic at Las Vegas and the Senior PGA Tour's Las Vegas Seniors Classic. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 4th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 5th best for 1997-98. In addition, "GOLFWEEK" awarded it 98th in the category of "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997. The club only accepts reciprocal play from members of other TPC clubs. A second eighteen hole course, TPC at the Canyons, opened to the public in October of 1996 and is located elsewhere in the database.

Calabasas Golf & Country Club
"Excellent course"
This is an well-designed, well-maintained course nestled among hills and oak trees about an hour west of downtown Los Angeles. It is a Robert Trent Jones designed course, located on land that was previously Warner Ranch. Many movies were filmed on this location, and each hole is named after one of the movies filmed there. It is not long, but it is a challege. Narrow fairways, oak trees, water, fast and undulating greens. Very interesting holes and pin placements.

Rancho San Joaquin Golf Course
"This course helped my game!"
With it's many doglegs and elevation changes, this course will quickly teach the beginners how to setup their approaches, while giving the lower handicap players a reasonably challenging round. 5 of the first nine pins cannot be seen from the tees. If you spray your tee shots, you will surely be struggling to make par. The par threes are deceiving with two short downhills, and two 150-ish up hills. These have been my achilles heel. There are not to many water hazzards, but they are well/poorly place depending on your tendancies. They can easily swallow your ball if your not carefull. The traps are typically limited to wrapping the greens, but watch out for the 5th hole, with its deceiving horizontal sand at 230 yards out. The grounds are well kept with mid speed greens that exactly match the practice green. Prepare for an even mix of wide and narrow fairways, and many misleading doglegs, both slight and sharp. This course has made me a better golfer, and I can't say that about many. Enjoy!

"Good Starter Course"
For an inexpensive, well maintained course to play while you are learning the basics of golf, this course is the one to play on. No par 5's. The course has good water, and easy par 3's that are helpful when you feel the pressure of the group behind you when your beginning. For the price, the location in Fountain Valley's Mile Square Park is beautiful, and I've never felt that a person starting off in the sport would feel embarrassed to make a mistake at this course.
