Needs Help, Mar 23, 2011

The course needs help, as it used to host the oregon open and pac 10 tournaments. The current superintendent has let the course go and it has been echoed by the members I hear groaning out there. Hopefully when they get a new superintendent it can get back to decent quality and the enjoyment we once had will be restored. Mallard is a great place, it just needs a lot of changes.

Mallard Creek is one of Oregon's finest golf courses. Wetlands, ponderosa pine and wildlife abound. It has the same feeling as many of Central Oregon's courses and is still very affordable. They even hosted the PGA Oregon Open is 2002.

Edgewood Country Club
"Traditional Donald Ross layout"
Edgewood is a graceful example of a Donald Ross design, with elevated, contoured and fast greens. The traditional, tree lined layout is picturesqe and plays longer than its listed length. Par 4s #2 and #18 are each 420 yard gems. Three of the Par 5s are reachable with two long shots. 5-8 on the front is where the golf course really tests you. The course is always in good condition, and despite its hills, is a good walking course with a solid caddy program.

Liberty Country Club
"Great Condition and Layout"
This course has a beautiful layout and hole construction. Similar to the old "country club" style courses, this smaller operation club gets the job done with what must be a low budget because the course is just in outstanding shape. The bent-grass fairways look good all year round and maintain their grass even in the hot summer afternoons of August. They also had great deals available for play during the week and for people wanting to have an outing. I'm definitely going to play at the Liberty Country Club again.

Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club - Lakes/Cypress Course
"Great Course"
This course meets all of my requirements of a great course. Its challenges you with long par 4s, and exciting par 3s. It also gives you a great view of the atlantic ocean. This course is ranked as one of my favorites to play.
