This links-style course was built on rolling hills, so you can expect some uneven lies. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 4th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. The fairways are open, but lined with a defined cut of rough, and the greens are large and sloped. There are sand bunkers guarding every green. In addition, a lake comes into play on two holes. Hole #7 is a short 326-yard, par 4, which features the largest sand bunker in the state. Senior and junior discounts are only available before noon on weekdays. Metal spikes are not permitted during the winter.

A bargain!, May 06, 2009

This course is meticulously maintained, a nice links-style setup, and with greens fees at $18, it also has unbeatable prices.

Nice Course, Slow Pace, Jul 06, 2007
reviewer: LB from Texas
We played on the 4th of July in the morning. Very nice course but the round lasted 5 1/2 hours. I'm guessing the decision by the pro shop to let a five-some play had something to do with it. With no marshals on the course and a five-some that was putting everything out.... it made for a very long day for the rest of us.

Nice course, but beware of the wind!, Aug 09, 2005
reviewer: gcbc from Lincoln, NE
When the wind is not blowing, this course can be a lot of fun if you keep it out of the many bunkers. If the wind is blowing, forget about it. That is when this course becomes extremely challenging. This course will force you to either use driver and take a chance of ending up in the tall grass or bunker, or give up the distance and pull out an iron. A nice change of pace from the other Lincoln courses. It is next to the airport, so don't expect a quiet round. And in agreement with a previous review, the drink staff certainly adds to the scenery.

Highlands in Lincoln, Jul 12, 2004
reviewer: Cooper from Omaha, NE
Wow! What a nice public course... I played this course last year when I was looking for a course to play a corporate outing at. It is well layed out, lots of prairie grass, (but who hits there anyway when you have nice plush fairways to hit to?). Lots of challenging holes. Very accomidating Pros & staff. Don't let this pass by... PS I booked my outing and many people said they enjoyed it.

Great for beginners at a great price, Jul 09, 2004
reviewer: Joe Buck from Lincoln, NE USA
Wide open fairways, huge bunkers, very few trees, large undulating greens, good quality. Best looking drink service in town.

Not bad, Jun 23, 2004
reviewer: steve from Canon city, Colorado USA
Highlands is a wide open course with few OB stakes. The major hazards consist of fairway and green bunkers while the rough is a mix of indigenous grasses and weeds that really make you itch like crazey if you have to walk into it. This grass is about 8-10 inches tall but generally pretty thin except on cerain holes where you can kiss your ball goodbye if you go into it. The course is fairly fun and is a good course for the power hitter and a couple of the par 4's are reachable from the tee. Overall the course is well maintained. It is not going to be a really challenging course but generally makes for a relaxing day of golf. Things to improve on is marshalling the course better and keeping the speed of play picked up. Can sometimes get backlogged because Joe never golfed before, has to learn the game for the first time 5 groups ahead of you.

This course has rolling hills and some areas of tall native Nebraska grass. Not too difficult, and great scenery!
