This course has huge mounds around the greens and the fairways are tree lined. "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 10th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996. There are no sand bunkers, but there are several grass bunkers. The signature hole is #13, a 181-yard, par 3, requiring a shot over water to a green that is guarded by three trees and several more grass bunkers.

Not very difficult, but provides a challenge. Has quite a few large trees, but the fairways are wide enough that they usually are not a major problem. Kept in great shape and usually fairly easy to get a tee time. Nice scenery and very peaceful.

There is a great deal of wind in Nebraska, but this course has mature trees, rolling hills, and a great deal of shelter. It also is in a huge park so there are no electrical lines, houses, highways, or other signs of mankind to distract you from its glorious beauty. No sand on the course speeds play, but there are grass bunkers and long rough when the rains come.

Played the back 9 after 1.3 in. of rain nite before, no puddles. Lush green conditions, with big pines all over, thought I was back in Seattle. $15 for 9 with a cart an a large bucket of balls to practice, this old timer from Colorado thought he was in golf heaven.

Pioneers Golf Course was where I first began golfing, so it will always remain a special place to me. Being my late father's favorite course, it proudly is mine as well.
