This older course has many trees lining its fairways. As a result, the fairways are narrow. In addition, water hazards (several lakes) come into play on many holes. Ted Robinson redesigned twelve of the original holes in 1962, followed by Garrett Gill and George B. Williams, who redesigned the entire course in the early 1990's.

Hardpan, Extremely slow play on weekends, overpriced weekend rates for what it has to offer.

Traditional Challenge, Oct 18, 2004

This Ted Robinson design is a tree-lined challenge that requires length (from the Blue Tees) AND accuracy. The layout is mostly flat but with doglegs and well-placed bunker (and water) it keeps you thinking all the way to the green. Although play can be slow (because it's a great value) the weather and scenery are usually pleasant 12-months a year. I've been playing this for 15-plus years and it never gets old.

If no other is available!, May 06, 2004

I recently had some spare time on my hands while visiting the Long Beach area and decided to play a round of golf at the El Dorado Park Golf Club. This course is filled with many trees leaving many fairways narrow and challenging for the beginner golfer. All of the greens leave a lot to be desired, putting on the uneven, uncut and bumpy surfaces made putting a chore. Until the putting surface is better maintained I cannot recommend this course.
