This well-maintained course features very quick greens that are sloped. The fairways have moderate speed, and out-of-bounds markers come into play on two holes. The signature hole is #18, a 480-yard, par 5, providing some of the most breathtaking scenery the course has to offer. This course has annually hosted the Mid Atlantic PGA Championships.

Excellent, Aug 06, 2005

From the quirky severe dogleg par 5 #1 to island green par 4 #4, to numbers 9 and 10 (arguably two of the finest par 4's in the region), the course is a treat. Although yardage markers are few and far between and local knowledge is key, the front nine plays open and the back is pretty tight. #16 is noteworthy because even at about 120 yards it is severely downhill with a pot bunker 10 feet deep on the left. #17 is a 420 yard dogleg left requiring a long drive over or beside left side bunkers and an approach through a tube of trees on either side. Good luck but what a hidden gem this course is!

Newnan Country Club
"Tough Layout"
Beautiful layout with a lot of elevation changes and fast, undulating greens. The course also winds through a lot of trees, mostly pines and oaks. First six holes are a real challenge. If you can survive these opening holes with a score that's just a few strokes over par, you may be able to recover by the end. The 15th hole is a monster from back tees, measuring almost 650 yards. Overall, bring every club in your bag.

"Magnificent"
This course is quite enjoyable to play. While length is not much of a factor, it plays much tighter than it appears. It is a fun course, and one that will test your risk/reward skills. The course is well developed, and very hilly. I would suggest that you ride while playing this course as well. This course is one that I wouldn't mind playing any day of the week.

"The Best Little Course in West Texas!"
This 9 hole course is the hardest little course I have ever played! If you think the Links is hard wait until you play this bad boy! The hardest hole would probably be #7. This par 5 may look easy when you step up on these elevated tee boxes but just wait until you tee off. Thats when the adventure begins. The second hardest would the #5. This par 4 dogleg right is probably the hardest par 4 on the course. Of course there are a few easy holes thrown in just so you don't lose your confidence. So if you are ever traveling through Throckmorton; be sure and stop to play "The Best Little Course in West Texas!"

Hillcrest Country Club
"Miniature Southern Hills"
Hillcrest is an old (built 1926), established, traditional golf course. Originally designed by Perry Maxwell (Southern Hills, Prairie Dunes, Colonial), it was updated in 1980 by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay. The course features tree-lined fairways, lots of doglegs, and difficult small greens. It has hosted numerous USGA Qualifiers, an NCAA regional, numerous OGA state amateur events. While short in length, it plays longer because of the doglegs and elevation changes. Course record is 65 and is held by Justin Leonard and several others. This is an excellent golf course that you will want to play again.
