This course is lit from May to September for evening play. The back nine is more relaxing and easier to play than the front nine, which is all par 3's. The fairways are wide and tree lined, and the greens are elevated and undulating.

pretty nice little course, Oct 02, 2005

the front nine being the same as a normal course and the back nine being all par threes makes this course fun to play. there are some lakes and a few bunkers that come into play. the greens for the most part are great with the exception of a few bald spots on some of the greens. overall a great place to play, especially during the summer when you can wait for nightfall and play the lighted back nine.

Marshallia Ranch Golf Course
"Marshallia Rocks"
This is one tough but, neat course. Carved out of the hills surrounding Vandenberg AFB, the layout is challenging and scenic. Play in the fall and winter for the best weather, because spring and summer can be very cool and windy. Each hole rewards a decent shot, but plucks out your heart if your shot runs errant. Ice plant gives a new meaning to the word, rough. Here's a putting tip, 90% of the putts break toward the high hills to the south, though you will swear it can't be. The course is usually in terrific condition and the Clubhouse very accomodating. Green fees, equipment and food are more than reasonable when compared to nearby courses. This is one gem all golfers must experience.

Arroyo Seco Golf Course
"Pretty Good Par 3"
This is a good course to tune up your short irons. It's pretty well maintained (the tees are mats however). Most holes are about 130 yards or so with a pond coming into play on a couple holes. There are no sand traps, but there is a stream that runs through the course as well as many trees. It's a good course to play after work, with your family, or when you don't want to play a full golf course.

Rancho Solano Golf Course
"Plenty of Choices"
Rancho Solano presents the normal golfer a blend of narrow fairways with generous ones but the most memorable traits are indeed the greens. Being on the right level on a given green can be your ticket to a great round while being on the wrong one can ruin your day. The hilly area is well displayed as the course undulates through the Fairfield foothills and some of the views from the higher holes are outstanding.

"Driving is the key"
With so many dog-legs, and a few tricky short holes, tee shot position is critical. Staff is friendly an helpful and the driving range is good and hardly ever crowded.
