This course features several obstacles that you'll have to maneuver your way past. Numerous sand bunkers have been carefully positioned throughout the course's design, and water hazards come into play on most holes. The elevated greens are medium-sized and offer some subtle breaks. The narrow fairways are tree lined, and a local warns, "if you hit your ball through the tree lines, you'll more than likely find yourself in some extremely thick brush."

North Shore Country Club
"Great Bay Side Holes, and Tough"
Play this in the wind and you'll find your handicap is a little too low. Northshore is a wonderful course with great bay views on the 4 bayside holes. And Don't miss the gator on hole 12, the cormorants on number 3, or all the other birds during the migratory months. In winter the rye overseed makes Northshore one of the best courses in all of South Texas.

It's a challanging course, also very fun, they also sponsor for the local high school so thats pretty cool. For as good of a golf course it is prices are reasonable.

Some of the holes are short but with the smaller greens and water meandering around the course it makes you think as to what club to scale back to as well as making sure you don't do too much slicing. Most of the holes you can hit right at the hole if you have a high 8,9 or PW. You have to be careful off the tee on some holes due to the water running across the fairway. The back nine has some undulating fairways. The largest green seems to be No. 18 and it slopes quite a bit downward from back to front. The fairway grass has gotten better over the years since it was known as SLOCUM golf course. The staff is friendly and accommodating.

This course used to be one 1 star course but they have worked hard to make the course 2 stars. The greens are much nicer than a year ago. this course is good for learning the game, it's a very easy course.
