This course is right at the foot of the beautiful Eastern Sierra Mountains and provides a challenging round of golf. The fast greens have many subtle breaks and are hard to read. Water comes into play on several holes, including #9, a 358-yard, par 4, which requires an approach shot over water. The first four holes play uphill and against the wind. Negotiations are currently underway with the Forest Service to acquire land for another nine holes. The club has an annual membership, which provides a per round discount for all fees.

This is a fun and challenging 9 hole course, which is an ideal place for a 2hr quick round before heading home... reasonable golf fees... its best in the early morning before 12-2pm thats when it gets tuff... very strong winds... and its pretty much a open course (a few small aspen trees) just with some water hazards... be sure to play at least 2 clubs less then normal (can drive a 400yd par 4 easily)... overall a great quick course with fast greens and tricky shots... 4 stars for being very windy at lunch and not being 18 holes (not yet anyways)

"New design poor, operation run poorly..."
The scenery is nice and price is about average for a public course, but here's a few pet peaves: - The course was redesigned a few years back to try to squeeze a few more stokes onto par by making it a par 69 from the original 66. The results were in my estimation, terrible. They basically redesignated two long par 4's into short par fives, combined to par 3's into a par 4, and added a 50 yard new par 3. - The proshop is run extremely unprofessionally by retirees and kids under 16. I've also witnessed the "owner" hanging around and acting like a yahoo. Let's put it this way, not your typically golf links proprietor! - The greens are colored during the summer with some bluish dye that gets all over your clothes, clubs, and ball. I suspect it covers up the burned out yellow spots on the greens. - Finally, I've never seen greens like the ones at this place. They are kept long and are, by far, the slowest I've ever encountered. I've literally seen playing partners skull a wedge from 60 yards and it doesn't even roll off the green. Weird.

Stevens Park Golf Course
"Classic Muny"
Stevens is only a few minutes from downtown. It's in a beautiful area and has some scenic views of Dallas. It's a classic muny and a good course to walk. There are many challenging holes and there are some very easy holes. Number 2 is a very short par 4 and is reachable from all of the tees. Number 12 is a short par 5 dog leg that is reachable in 2 but there are many well placed trees and an elevated green with a mean slope and you'll be happy if you get your 5. There are a few holes where you can hit your drive as far as you can but most take some strategy off the tee. On 17 you can hit 220 yards straight away or 140 yards to the right side of the fairway and both will leave an open short iron shot to the green... if you avoid two beautiful oaks and a wide creek on that tee shot. The par 3's are gorgeous and the two on the back are included in the 3 hardest on the back nine handicap chart. Stevens Park is a favorite, great taquitos in the snack bar too.
