This tight course was built on rolling terrain and has a Civil War historical background. The club annually hosts the PGA Tour's Bell South Classic. The course's signature hole is #13, a 158-yard, par 3, featuring a waterfall protecting the front of its undulating green. "Golf Digest" rated this 96th best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96. They also rated it as the 3rd "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 5th best for 1997-98. In addition, "GOLFWEEK" ranked it 87th among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997. Jack Nicklaus redesigned the course in 1983.

Every hole a different experience, Mar 26, 2009
reviewer: Dell from Marietta, GA
This is my home course and I play it regularly. Every hole on ACC is different. There are no parallel fairways. Water comes into play on several holes. There are many elevation changes. I have never seen "old ladies sipping coffee" in their backyards. It is a residential course, but you rarely see anyone in their yards as you pass by. I never get tired of playing it.

Wonderful course and clubhouse, Jul 17, 2004
reviewer: Joe Wade from Raleigh
Course plays very competitively and was in incredible shape. New 9+ million dollar clubhouse. Major re-establishment of homes in the area will keep this a top course / club for decades. I saw no women sipping coffee, but if I did I would have waved because I am not a snooty New Yorker.

This golf course is superb and one of the best high end private golf courses in the state. All I have to say is WOW, this course is beautiful!

not too private, Mar 14, 2004
reviewer: Paul Cahill from New York
Too many homes back up to this lovely course. Older women standing on their backyards sipping coffee and staring at all the young golfers. YUCK!!
