Boone Creek Golf Course - Blue Course6912 Mason Hill Rd McHenry, IL 60050 Phone: (815)455-6900Fax: (815)455-9701
There are twenty-seven holes on this facility, which are played as one eighteen hole course, the Blue Course, and a nine hole course, the Red Course. Overall, the terrain is flat. Most of the tees and greens are elevated on both courses. The grass is very well-conditioned and lush over the entire layout. The greens are undulating and average-sized, except on the Red Course, where the greens are smaller. There is a greater premium on iron shots on the Red Course. There are thirteen ponds on the Red Course. The signature hole on the Blue Course is #11, a 200-yard, par 3, which has an island green, a creek that runs in front of the green and to the left, as well as a pond and large bunker on the right. The signature hole on the Red Course is #5, a 271-yard, par 4, which has water in front and to the right of the green. This is a classic risk/reward hole. Big hitters may be able to reach the green from the tee, if not, prepare to roll up your pant legs.

| I think that Boone Creek is a great place to play. I have been playing there since around 2002 and I have never had one complaint. The learning center is great, the bar was good, and the pro shop has many items to help you with your game. The course is also in great shape. The greens are always in fairly good shape, even at the beginning of the season. It is a challenging course but is a good family course. I recomend it to anybody who is looking for a cheap round of golf at a quality course. |

| I have been playing at Boone Creek for several years now and found the 18 hole course to be an excellent value: Challenging but not too challenging, greens and tee boxes always in great shape, and very moderate greens fees. Because of this Boone Creek has become my favorite course to play in McHenry county. |

Perhaps, if you don't have an organized outing, Aug 11, 2008

| The woman working in the bar area where you get your lunch was very efficient. The greens were in excellent shape. However, the service with the beverage cart was poor. We were able to receive only one beverage within the first nine holes, and we were the lucky ones!! Last year they said the cart broke down. This year there were two carts on the course, but still no service.
They are constantly short staffed it seems, and we could not get a ranger to verify our hole-in-one hole. Fortunately, no one hit the hole-in-one because with out signature from a course representative, the insurance on the hole would be null and void, and the company would have had to pay up the prize money out of it's own pocket. This employee shortage has been going on for 2 years now. Maybe they should try not to cut the starter so that he can oversee such prize holes while the ranger "does his job".
Attempting to contact the woman who helps set up events is nearly impossible although she will insists that she works 90 hours a week. Although, none of those hours begin before 10:00 a.m. There is a nice man however who answers the phone, and tries his best to help. You would think that the woman who is suppose to be in charge would make it a point during those 90 hours a week of work, to contact the outing coordinator to establish any changes in the tee times. This was third and last outing at Boone Creek!!
The first year everything went along without a hitch. Last year this new woman took over and the service was poor, under staffed, etc.. She was very unpleasant and berated persons trying to turn in and receive keys. None of our carts where ready last year, and she made it sound like it was our fault. Thinking that she had a bad day going on, we re-booked this year. Never again!
Now I understand it is just a personally flaw, and one which I have the power to not remain a party to. I don't need to be yelled at in front of other customers and the patrons on my outing for five minutes as she frantically grabs the cart keys.
If she had been present for any of my calls, or returned a call, perhaps some issues could have been avoided. The sky was overcast, and drizzle was in the air, and yes, I had 3 foursomes cancel that day, with one more canceling as we were getting called up to tee off . It was unavoidable.
An apology was not enough, however for Susan, who continued her tirade when I inquired about a ranger for the hole-in-one, and again when we returned the keys, and settled the bill. She was even angry when I had to point out the she over charged by $200.00 for the deposit previously paid months in advance.
Nice girl in bar area, nice man answering the phones in the a.m., beverage cart girls are pleasant when you can find them, greens in good condition.
Beverage cart service needs to be stepped up, course needs to be staffed properly, Susan needs to re-adjust her 90 hours a week to include morning hours before people go to work, or at least follow up with larger groups to see how it's going a couple of days in advance, and firm up any questions left unanswered. If you are repeating EXACTLY what you did last year, be forewarned, Susan does not keep "that stuff". Lastly, Susan needs to go. Her attitude is not appropriate for someone in the a customer service oriented business. Perhaps a mini golf course somewhere is looking for a director.
Boone Creek for a day of golf, perhaps.
Boone creek for an outing, most certainly not.
