This facility, which was previously called McKinney Municipal Golf Course, closed its fifty-year-old original nine hole design and opened up a new championship eighteen hole course in 1998. The new layout flows along rolling terrain and features six-man made lakes coming into play. The greens are medium-sized and undulating.

Best course for the money, Mar 22, 2004

I played this course 20+ years ago and it was a dry, cracked 9 hole cow pasture. When my friend asked me if I wanted to play there again I though he was crazy. He told me the revamped it and added 9 holes. So, I gave it a shot. Greens fees were between $20 and $25 (used my credit card and forgot the total). The greens were actually greens this time and the fairways were above par. Lack of bathrooms is my only complaint. Bottom line. loved it. Number 8 will chalange even the seasoned golfer.

This course is rediculously cheap. You can play "twighlight" for only $21 which allows you to play as long as you want until it gets dark, starting at 2 or 3. Also this course included mounds and greens to die for. 18 holes of complete challenge for experience players, yet great play for those who are novice.

"The Best Little Course in West Texas!"
This 9 hole course is the hardest little course I have ever played! If you think the Links is hard wait until you play this bad boy! The hardest hole would probably be #7. This par 5 may look easy when you step up on these elevated tee boxes but just wait until you tee off. Thats when the adventure begins. The second hardest would the #5. This par 4 dogleg right is probably the hardest par 4 on the course. Of course there are a few easy holes thrown in just so you don't lose your confidence. So if you are ever traveling through Throckmorton; be sure and stop to play "The Best Little Course in West Texas!"

Inconsistent greens throughout and tee boxes from hell. The 12th tee grass is 6 inches tall all the time....please someone wake up. The range is closed to paying customers and open to members only. Big deal it's just a stupid field. If you want to play fun golf, go somewhere else.
