Very nice public course, Aug 27, 2004

Armitage is a very nice public course. For its price range it can't be beaten. I think the only bad thing about this golf course is that it is always busy. The upkeep is very well done. The greens are fast. I don't know what the other guy is talking about. Either he is used to playing at country clubs and $100 a round golf courses, or he is just being an ass.

This is one of the best maintained public golf courses I've played. The only regret is that it isn't longer, but if you play from the back tees, you'll be challenged. Unlike many public courses, the fairways are like carpet and you can easily see a dividing line between fairways and rough. Some sloping fairways mixed with semi tight fairways will penalize golfers who aren't straight off the tee. For the price, you can't find a better value, especially if you are a Hampden Township resident.

"Good Starter Course"
For an inexpensive, well maintained course to play while you are learning the basics of golf, this course is the one to play on. No par 5's. The course has good water, and easy par 3's that are helpful when you feel the pressure of the group behind you when your beginning. For the price, the location in Fountain Valley's Mile Square Park is beautiful, and I've never felt that a person starting off in the sport would feel embarrassed to make a mistake at this course.

This course is very demanding with very small greens and very slopped fairways. The toughest hole on the course could be #8 a 400 yard par 4 that plays about 450 straight uphill with a blind view of the green. The other hard hole is #16 Its a dogleg dead-left you only see about 230 yards of the fairway straight ahead but theres a huge tree line along the left and some along the right. You need to carry the ball about 250 over tall thick trees and let your ball run down into the fairway. After that u have a uphill blind green shot from about 175-225 yard shot with a slopped front to back green. This course is a very beautiful course that looks over Hastings and with its new club house its a wonderful course.
