This course is hilly, and the back nine is tighter than the front nine. The greens are small, with a little elevation, and have medium speed. There is a creek that runs through the course and one pond comes into play on two holes. The signature hole is #10, a 610-yard, par 5. Alfred H. Tull redesigned this course in 1968, followed by Al Zikorus in 1988. You must have a tee time in order to play this course on the weekends. A lottery is held every Wednesday for weekend play.

Very nice course. It incorporates all of the landscape from hill to water to woods. Back nine is a little tight. Good prices, and course in good condition

fast play, Apr 14, 2005

This is a great layout and the greens are always in good condition. But what I have found to be the best part is it always seems to play "fast". I have gone out after work and played in a foursome in under 4 hours.

Best Bent Grass Public Access Greens in CT, Mar 09, 2004
reviewer: Michael C. Stavola from Danbury, CT
Municipal Golf courses offer a good learning experience for beginner, intermediate and experienced players of all ages. Since the game is designed for an average of 72 strokes, half assigned or presumed for green play or putting. Having had the pleasure and priviledge of playing both Pebble Beach and Beth Page Black, U.S. Open venues with limited public access, I know how good greens can get. Without a doubt, Hunter's playing/putting surfaces are equal to many private club greens in quality of puttability (if that is a word ). I commend the superintendant, Tom, on an outstanding effort to maintain those public play areas to a level that is truly a joy to putt on.
