| I am in my 50's and physically benefit from walking the 9 hole course at least once a week.
Fairways are all good to very good as far as looks and playability. Left to right golfers will love the wide fairways. Trees adorn most fairways and offer a challenge if you can not hit straight all the time.
Younger players should realize, less expensive fees bring out the seniors in masses. There are some that tell the tale of an golfing elder with a "walker". Ladies and Mens clubs clog the tee times during the week.
Over all I rate this golf environment as quite acceptable.
$16 dollars for Saturday play (for residents) is great for a cheap guy like me. |

| I've been golfing at Merrick upwards of 4 times a week for a number of years. Before i say anything else let me preface it by saying, i love this course. I love playing it, i love being at it. It's a fantastic layout and like some others have said, for a more experienced golfer it can be fun but without a doubt not the most challenging course. The fairway's are very wide and the rough is generally pretty thin (unless you get really unlucky its almost always a clean play out). The only thing that ever bothers me about Merrick are the greens. Slow and hairy, not very well maintained. Bottom line, nice layout, great view of jones beach, not that challenging for the better golf, but a lot of fun to play.
ps- if u play in the summer give yourself 3 hours for the round on a weekend or early week day. |
