This course features well-manicured greens and fairways. Water hazards (a small pond, plus an ocean inlet) come into play on three holes. The fairways are typically flat, but there is some mounding that can cause uneven lies. Some of the greens are elevated. The course is closed every Wednesday.

Nice course rude staff, Apr 12, 2010
reviewer: Joe from Suffolk
This was my second and last time playing this course. The management of the course clearly does not want non residents playing on there course. The staff is very rude. The shame is it's a nice course and both days I played it wasn't crowded. I guess they don't need the money.

I often play Merrick Road Golf, Oct 05, 2008
reviewer: Gary the hacker from Nassau County
I am in my 50's and physically benefit from walking the 9 hole course at least once a week. Fairways are all good to very good as far as looks and playability. Left to right golfers will love the wide fairways. Trees adorn most fairways and offer a challenge if you can not hit straight all the time. Younger players should realize, less expensive fees bring out the seniors in masses. There are some that tell the tale of an golfing elder with a "walker". Ladies and Mens clubs clog the tee times during the week. Over all I rate this golf environment as quite acceptable. $16 dollars for Saturday play (for residents) is great for a cheap guy like me.

Good Course, Feb 22, 2007
reviewer: Mike from New York
I've been golfing at Merrick upwards of 4 times a week for a number of years. Before i say anything else let me preface it by saying, i love this course. I love playing it, i love being at it. It's a fantastic layout and like some others have said, for a more experienced golfer it can be fun but without a doubt not the most challenging course. The fairway's are very wide and the rough is generally pretty thin (unless you get really unlucky its almost always a clean play out). The only thing that ever bothers me about Merrick are the greens. Slow and hairy, not very well maintained. Bottom line, nice layout, great view of jones beach, not that challenging for the better golf, but a lot of fun to play. ps- if u play in the summer give yourself 3 hours for the round on a weekend or early week day.

POOR CUSTOMER TREATMENT, Dec 04, 2006
reviewer: MIKE M. from QUUENS
I PLAYED THE COURSE AS GUEST AND HAVE TO AGREE WITH PREVIOUS REVIEWS. THE COURSE IS IN NICE CONDITION BUT THE STAFF DOESN'T APPEAR TO WANT GUESTS PLAYING ON THE COURSE.

VERY RUDE Staff, nice course, Jul 25, 2006
reviewer: John from Bayshore
This is a nice course but beware if you are not a county resident. This is a town course and if your a guest be prepared to be treated quite unkindly. It obvious that guests are not welcomed. I am a Sufolk County resident and am not aware of any course in Sukolk that an outsider can't play. This must be exclusive to Nassau County.

Nice Course.....RUDE STAFF, Jul 13, 2006
reviewer: John from Suffolk County
I played the course on Tuesday July 11, 2006. The staff in the club house was nothing short of out right rude. I am not a county resident, and as a result was treated like a second class citizen. The course is well maintained, and fun to play. If your a county resident it's worth it to play, if not, beware!!!!!!

Very Nice Course, Sep 29, 2005
reviewer: Jimmykola from Ronkonkoma
Played with a foursome on Wednesday September 28, 2005. We got to the course at 3:00 p.m. and walked right on, no wait at all. The price was $10.00. This is wide open, well maintained course. It's not to difficult for a seasoned golfer. This is a good course for a new golfer.
