This well-maintained course has narrow fairways that are flat and easy to walk. The greens are slightly sloped and firm, so holding your shots on the greens will be difficult at times. In addition, canals and lakes come into play on four holes. Twilight rates are available any day after 2 PM.

This course might be the worst in South Florida. I paid $39 and based on the upkeep of the fairways and greens, they might as well have paid me.

...I just got off this course and it really has potential. It is considerably more challenging than I thought it would be. There isn't much water, but it is in all the right places for your balls to take a little swim. And a couple of the dog legs are more like 90 degree monsters. The only negative is the location. Some parts of the course are a little too close to traffic (especially the hole by the freeway) and the nose can be bothersome. Also, they chose today (a Wednesday morning) to work on the course and didn't mention anything to us until we got to the 7 or so holes that were almost unplayable due to the thousands of gopher holes left from the aerator. That really should have been done at night or when the course was otherwise closed. Aside from those holes though (and I am sure that it is not a regular thing) this was a great course for the money.

"Emporia Municpal golf course"
Adequate golf course with driving range. This course is usually crowded. The pro shop/snack shop is small. As are the buckets of balls you get. Fees are high for small town course. Rough and fairway grass look pretty much the same during the summer.

Cherry Island Golf Course
"A NICE PLACE TO PLAY."
My experience at "THE ISLAND" has been wonderful. The course plays fair. By that I mean the greens are in good shape and they recover well from all the rounds that are played there. The fairways drain well after any rain. You can play all the irons in your bag. It has a couple of tricky holes. The staff is nice and inviting. I will be back for more.
