This course is unusual for Indiana because the terrain is hilly. It was built in a wooded area and features many mature oak trees lining its fairways. Water comes into play on six holes, and the varying changes in elevation make the course quite scenic. The most difficult hole on the course is #3, a 542-yard, par 5, requiring a tee shot up a dogleg left fairway, then an approach shot to a small green that is severely sloped from front to back. Most of the greens on this course are approximately 6,000 square feet in size.

Best Value in Elkhart County, May 26, 2004

If you want a challenging course at a reasonable price, you will not find a better location in Elkhart County. Oak Hills offers the Elkhart County golfer a chance to play a non-flat course. There are some beautiful (and even a little scary) views from the tee boxes. On top of all this Oak Hills continues to be one of the most reasonably priced golfing opportunities around.

Played this course couple times in 2003. Very friendly staff. Course very well maintained. Beautiful layout. I have played many more expensive courses thru-out america and find this to be a great bargain. Guarantee you will want to go back again and again.

I first played this course in the winter season and I was really impressed with the condition it was in. The fairways which are Bermuda were dormant, but very well maintained. The layout was quite challenging, especially the 2nd hole which required a nice fade over trees which would put you in position for a nice approach to an elevated green. For those without a fade in your bag, this hole would stretch your imagination and skill level to attempt to go for it in two. The remainder of the front-side consisted of two other dog-legs to the right which again would require a nice fade shot in order to reach in regulation. The finishing hole on the front side is fairly long, but straighforward - again another dog-leg to the right. On the back side, your course management skills are challenged very early on the second hole. From an elevated tee shot you can attempt a 240+ drive to an elevated fairway. If not executed properly, you can find your tee shot in the woods (left OB), in water (right and short). This hole requires good course management and disclipline. The remainder of backside plays either up or downhill with water coming into play on several of them. The greens are medium to large, but fair. Overall, I was challenged on this course and have considered joining this course in the the spring. Rates are very affordable.

Nisqually Valley Golf Course
"A good winter course"
This is a good course for golfers who can have fun without elaborate amenities. Practice facilites are minimal as is the proshop. The main assets are: golf value per dollar (great senior rates), minimal paved golf car paths so a ball is seldom scuffed and ricocheted to bad places, playability through the winter as the drainage is good because only minimal grading was done during construction. Walking is easy as there are only three areas that rise 20 or thirty feet. There are some nice oak tree framed views of Mt. Rainier. On approximately 90 acres this is, consequently, a very compact course with fairways side by side, so be alert to the call of "fore" and protect yourself. You should not hesitate to yell when you strike one out of your fairway.
