This course features undulating, well-manicured greens, and fairways defined by a heavy cut of rough. A solid short game is at a premium here, because locals say the main difficulty to the course is around the greens. This course was redesigned by Gary Roger Baird in 1983. The signature hole is #15, a 171-yard, par 3, requiring a shot over a barranca to a two-tiered green.

This course is always in GREAT condition, with fast greens, wonderful lies in the fairway, and continually challenging the golfer. At one point last year, I played six rounds at the famous Olympic Club in a period of nine days. A few days later I played Green Hills, and realized that the course was in every bit as good a condition as both of Olympics courses - not as long though!

"New design poor, operation run poorly..."
The scenery is nice and price is about average for a public course, but here's a few pet peaves: - The course was redesigned a few years back to try to squeeze a few more stokes onto par by making it a par 69 from the original 66. The results were in my estimation, terrible. They basically redesignated two long par 4's into short par fives, combined to par 3's into a par 4, and added a 50 yard new par 3. - The proshop is run extremely unprofessionally by retirees and kids under 16. I've also witnessed the "owner" hanging around and acting like a yahoo. Let's put it this way, not your typically golf links proprietor! - The greens are colored during the summer with some bluish dye that gets all over your clothes, clubs, and ball. I suspect it covers up the burned out yellow spots on the greens. - Finally, I've never seen greens like the ones at this place. They are kept long and are, by far, the slowest I've ever encountered. I've literally seen playing partners skull a wedge from 60 yards and it doesn't even roll off the green. Weird.

"Great Course"
This is a terrific course - challenging but fair. The setting and views are spectacular. Tucked in the La Quinta cove, wind is not a factor like in other desert courses. Condition is excellent.

Country Oaks Golf Course
"Good Course"
I am a beginner golfer, and this is the place i am learning how to play. The staff is friendly and the other players always lend a helping hand. the course isnt too difficult, but its not easy. especially holes 2 and 6 where you have to hit over water. It's a nice course to play and I recomend it to anyone in the area.
