This is a somewhat open and flat course with some trees scattered along the fairways. However, few trees come into play around the greens. The medium to small greens are slightly sloped and average in speed. There are some sand bunkers on the course and the rough that borders the fairways is cut short.

Whitiing Field is an excellent course and is wide open and spread out. You will be surprised when you see it for the fact it only costs $22 dollars to play it. I highly recomend trying this course to any level of player.

Top Notch course for the price...., Sep 14, 2005

This golf course, when played from the gold tees, becomes a long course compared to other golf courses in the area. I usually play the blue tees which total to around 6600 yards of play. The fairways and greens are impeccably kept year round. It isn't a difficult course when it comes to scoring, that's if you keep it in the fairways. The are somewhat fast, but manageable. I play at Whiting Field at least 3 times a week, mixed in with the Moors and Tiger Point. They are all great courses but Whiting is the best bang for the buck!

Santa Rosa County's Best Kept Secret, Nov 05, 2004

Unknown to many golfers in and around the Pensacola area, the Whiting Field golf course is now open to the public. The course is well maintained, has an excellent lay out and is challenging without being intimidating. I play twice a week at Whiting and for the quality of play, wouldn't pay to play anywhere else on such a consistent basis.
