Unmarshalled course (Frustrating), Aug 01, 2007

This course is fun to play during the weekdays but on the weekend it is extremely frustrating. The course is not Marshalled and play becomes extremely slow. You will find players in flip-flops hitting two and three balls and nothing is done about it. It's a very nice course and worth the price to play. But do it during the weekdays early in the morning before the kids show up.

The best kept secret in Northwest Florida. The course is in great shape even though it gets heavy play. You need good directions to find it but well worth the trip.

I have been to this course a number of times in the past 4 years. Today was the worst condition Ihave seen the course. They also let five-somes play on a Saturday with two-somes right behind. This course is no longer on my play list.

Delaware Park Course
"Delaware 2003 review"
Delaware Park is a great place to learn to play golf because it offers open fairways, well maintained greens, no sand or water. There is hardly ever a bag line. There are 18 holes on relatively flat land. The trees present the only problems as many are in the fairways. The course conditions have shown vast improvement recently , especially in 2003 when new tee boxes were planted and benches were placed at each hole. It compares favorably, I think to the 2 other city courses, Cazenovia and South Park. Those courses offer just 9 holes each. The park setting is beautiful. If you want to practice without being intimidated, this is the place.

Arrowhead Golf Course
"Good Course at a fair price,"
The course is decent in upkeep, not the greatest greens but a nice and challenging course at times with greens protected by bunkers in touch positions. Course management is a little on the off side, they have no control over how many are on the course, and will load it up way past capacity, as well as never using any marshalling to speed up play. Weekdays are good times to play because of the lessened Traffic

San Jose Country Club
"Delightful Donald Ross Challange"
This private course was designed by Donald Ross to be a resort course in the early twentieth century. It was purchased after World War II by locals and formed into a club known as San Jose Golf and Country Club and has been sucessfully maintained as the private club since. It is the home course to many prominent Jacksonville residents. One must be a member or guest to play. It is a par 72. The greens are all adjacent to the tees, so that it can be walked easily. There are water hazards sprinkled throughout the course, which make it a dangerous layout for errant shots. The moderately fast greens are well maintained Burmuda and are sometimes puzzling with rolling configuration. A mature course--kept in excellent shape year-round.
