Great public course, Oct 21, 2006

Gibson Woods is as good as any course in the area, public or private. To say the course is well maintained is selling it brutally short. The fairways are great, the greens are tough, and it's an inexpensive outing. Absolutely gorgeous in the fall.

Gibson Woods is a challenging public golf course in Monmouth, IL. It is a mature course that challenges the golfer to play the fairway on most holes. The course features lots of trees, some water, and some elevated greens. The course favors the accurate golfer more than the long ball hitter. Although an accurate long ball hitter will consistently score well here. The course is very well maintained, has a driving range, and is generally only crowded on weekends.
