This somewhat flat course only has a few sand bunkers and water hazards. Some of the fairways are doglegs. Residents of the area say they really like hole #17, a 310-yard, par 4, because it offers a view of the lake and glimpses of the local wildlife.

This course is a bit of a challenge with narrow fairways and some hidden greens, You wont find a better course in the area for the money, Make sure you eat before you go, The snack bar is very limited

The golf fees are low and the course is nice. I always enjoy playing here. While it's not the fanciest course in the world, but it is a good course for the cost. I will continue to play this course in the future.

"Best course i have played on"
This course is the finnest course i have played on. If your looking for a challenge and some senery while your at it this is the course for you. With the somewhat more open fornt nine and the most closed back nine i have played on ever it provides a challenge to any golfer.

Chief at Sky Lodge Golf Course, The
"Bring it on!"
The Chief is perhaps the most challenging course I have played in northern Michigan. While it is a toughy, especially from the tips, it brings out a carnal instinct in me to play it again because I know that with my new knowledge I can improve my score. The course was in great shape with its bent tees, greens and fairways nicely manicured. The pro indicated that they just lowered the length of the rough, which made a great improvement. Service was also great in the shop. Leave your driver at home and have some fun.

Del Monte Golf Course
"Del Monte -- Fun and touch -- old school"
Great course, classic layout, old style, just a wonderful golf experience. I've played Old Del Monte many times. It is a slightly shorter and yet just as fun older brother to several of the other Monterey/Carmel area courses. Oldest golf course west of the Mississippi River, it is close to the Monterey airport, close to hotels, and provides a wonderful, old-feel idea of what it was like to play on courses before big land movers shapped and sculpted the ground. It is fun to play, fun to hang around at the pro-shop/coffee shop. Just a really neat golfing experience.

Mayfair Country Club
"Nastalgic Ross Course"
The Mayfair course brings us back to a time where the longest hitters on the PGA only drove the ball 250 yards. This means that for the majority of men today, you can play this course like the pro's play their championship 7200 yard courses. A good tee shot leaves you with a 7 to 9 iron approach. The signiture Donald Ross Turtle back greens are high and sloped and need to be navagated with thought. The open fairways mean that for the average golfer that is in the fringe or ruff you can still play on without haveing to take too many penality strokes like you do on some narrow house lined courses. In short, this course is beautiful with its tree lined fairways and a good challenge for the average golfer. If money value for course were a catagory this would be a five star.
