This course was built adjacent to Lake Schaefer and Freeman Lake. The terrain is hilly, so expect many uneven lies on the tree-lined fairways. The small greens are undulating and well bunkered, and water hazards come into play on four holes, including #11, a 459-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot over water to a dogleg right fairway, then a long approach to a narrow green with a bunker to the right. Pete Dye redesigned the course in 1962.

Resort Area Gem, Mar 27, 2004

Tippe is an outstanding resort area course located in Monticello, Indiana near Indiana Beach Resort. The new head pro and superintendent have made vast improvements over the last few years so the course and shop are always in great shape. Multiple tees allow each player to decide how much they want to take on, and the course takes in the best of the local attraction, Lake Shafer, as a few holes play adjacent to and with views of the lake. The members are always gracious and the staff is helpful. It's a great bargain.

Springville Country Club
"Best Course in WNY"
Not an overly long course, it rewards accuracy off the tee and penalizes errant strokes. The greens are fast and true, and generally break less than one would imagine. The front nine is deceptive, punishing anyone who strays off the tree-lined fairways. The back nine can be attacked, but the sightlines off the tees can intimidate the first time player. Use long irons from the tee to keep the ball in play(only if they are are a strength in your game), and you will be surprised with the result. Putting is the primary key to scoring on this picturesque layout.

Marshall Canyon Golf Club
"Trickier than you think and don't EVER walk."
Marshall Canyon is a fun course with some quirky holes but for the most part it is pretty fair. The greens are trickier than you think and there are some hole placements that totally suck if you get above the hole. It is a hilly course that you don't want to walk unless you are in very good walking shape. All in all, it is a good course with a decent price.

King's Ridge Golf Club
"Hilly experience"
This course is fairly tight with large greens that are exquisite. They roll very well and are extremely undulating....making for putting challenges. Even though the length is about 6200 yds from the back tees, it plays a lot longer than that due to the hills, large greens, and abundant sand.
