This course has hilly fairways and small, elevated greens. There are several sand bunkers and water hazards sprinkled throughout the course. This club was originally founded in 1892 and has been listed by the USGA as one of the first 100 clubs established in the U.S. It was also recognized in "GOLF Magazine's" 1995 list of "The First 100 Clubs in America."

Great place to play!, Mar 29, 2004

The course was in tremendous shape last July when I played it for the first time. Carpet-like fairways and fast greens are the rule on this course. The course definitely puts a premium on keeping it in the fairway; stray to the left or right on any hole and you can wind up in a lot of trouble. The rough is VERY penal and I was there just after they cut it! It is definitely a challenge and can be intimidating to high-handicappers or those who are not comfortable with their games. I enjoyed playing the course precisely because you have to think on every shot and are rewarded for good shot-making. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the round and would highly recommend this course to anyone who has the opportunity to play it!

"The Best Pound for Pound"
The dunes is possibly the best course for the money in the entire state! I give the course five stars due to its all around duffer enjoyment. The course itself allows for not just a fun but also a challenging round. The beauty of such a course in such a desolate location is unbelievable, as is the staff.
