This shotmaker's course features water hazards coming into play on a few holes. The course was built on slightly rolling terrain, so expect an uneven lie now and again. Mounds line both sides of the fairways, and all the water hazards are designated by (black and yellow) checkered flags, because most of the hazards are hidden. The signature hole is #9, a 546-yard, par 5, requiring a straightaway tee shot in order to avoid the water on the left and right sides of the fairway. I PLAYED HERON POINT WITH MY 13 YEAR OLD SON,APRIL 1,2004. THE COURSE WAS IN BEAUTIFUL CONDITION,FOR SO EARLY IN THE SPRING.I FOUND THE COURSE TO CHALLENGING,(I AM A 12 HDCP),BUT ALSO FAIR. WELL PLACED TEE SHOTS ARE REWARDED BY A GOOD LOOK AT THE GREEN. ERRANT TEE SHOTS ARE LIKEWISE ARE GOINRG TO PUT YOU IN TROUBLE,WITH PLENTY OF TREES,SAND,WATER AND OB.THIS IS A VERY NICE FACILITY WITH A PLEASANT STAFF,AND REASONABLY PRICED AS WELL.

Heron Point is a great round of golf for a reasonable price. The clubhouse has a classic look the reminds one of Augusta as you are coming up the 9th or 18th fairways.

"Natural golf"
Ellis Maples used time-tested design methods on Quarry Hills golf course. Not alot of earth was moved when placing the holes, and the result is a warm, natural feel when walking this course. In fact, it was made to walk. Despite its short length, it is a strong test of golfing skill to score well here. A true Hidden Gem in North Carolina.

Adequate golf course with driving range. This course is usually crowded. The pro shop/snack shop is small. As are the buckets of balls you get. Fees are high for small town course. Rough and fairway grass look pretty much the same during the summer.

Eddy Farm Hotel & Resort - Par 3 Course
"gone but not forgotten"
The par 3 course is gone, totally gone. The main course: nice course; open fairways; no real water to worry about. Can help your golfing morale. BUT . . . now only open to guests, AND renamed The Eddy Farm Retreat and Conference Center (the name says it all).
