This course was named after the first African-American to play in a PGA-sanctioned event. The fairways are wide open and its greens are elevated and very large. There are water hazards that come into play on five holes. This course's most difficult hole is #7, a 441-yard, par 4, requiring a tee shot over a large ditch. The Metro Amateur Championship was held here in 1994. Gary Baird redesigned this course in 1993. This is one of seven municipal courses in the local area.

Nice Muni, Dec 28, 2004 |

| Good course. Very good for a muni. Well conditioned. Holes #1-10 and #18 are all links style. Holes #11-17 are parksland. They were the original nine holes (They were modified when the others were built. Two were combined into one hole, and another was removed.). There is a long walk between Hole #10 and #11 and coming back between Hole #17 and #18. On this trek you go under Clarksville Highway (U.S. Highway 41). |
