This club opened nine new holes in August, 1998, and now has three nine hole courses that can be played in three eighteen hole combinations. The new holes were intermixed with the original front nine and are much tighter. All holes feature tree-lined fairways, and each of the greens are either guarded by water or sand bunkers. The terrain is easy to walk, so seniors will really enjoy playing the course.

3-9 hole courses play as a combination for 18. All three courses are nice, well maintained. Greens are nice size and also well maintained. The "Woods" nine can be tough but fun to play. Wind does come into play at times, bring a few extra balls. Somewhat spread out to walk, riding is better. Friendly people. Play any combination of the three and you will enjoy your round.

Every season I utilize this course to get my game on track, When (if) I ever par this course i'll shoot in the 80's anywhere. Greens are small & usually in great shape & this course makes you hit where you aim (or else bring a lot of balls). Downside; no one seems to know how to fix divots & they should open back tee on #8 (it would be worth playing just for that hole).

if you put your shoes on in the parking lot, and you want to teach the private club fellas a lesson about the grand old game, invite them to bring their games (and attitudes) to rockville's great local muni. make a mistake and add strokes to your round. manage your game, and your temperment, and put up a good number. the course has always been a top ranked muni, known to locals as a tough and demanding test of golf. redgate is not for high handicappers: do not tee off from the back tees unless you are a 10 or better, she'll eat you alive. if you want to play a solid course that will make you manage yourself and you game, try redgate, and when those private club guys wonder how it is they scored well above their posted handicaps, smile and mention that golf is meant to be played, not worshipped.
