Golf Club at Newcastle - Coal Creek Course15500 Six Penny Ln Newcastle, WA 98059 Phone: (425)793-5566Fax: (425)793-4643
This links-style course is situated on a hillside and features plenty of elevation change. The rolling, narrow fairways and well-undulating, table-top greens make for very challenging play. The signature hole is #17, a 510-yard, par 5, which is highlighted by Coal Creek running in front of the green. Views of Seattle and the Olympic Mountains in the distance present the perfect aesthetic backdrop. This club also offers an eighteen hole putting course and plans to open another eighteen hole championship course, a nine hole executive course, a full training facility, and a heated and lighted driving range by the summer of 2000. All of the tees are rated for both men and ladies.

| This course is extremely challenging for a Washington Course. Being a 2 handicap, and able to shoot PAR or better on most of the surrounding public courses within a 50 mile radius, most of the time, I found this course to be much more Challenging then any of the other courses around. Of course the Rates are higher too. But if your an advid golfer this is definitely worth a try. The sister course, China Creek is a little bit less challenging but also less expensive. |

| Played the course for the first time a couple of days ago. It is a nice course in that it is well maintained and presents some challenges for your average/above average golfer. And the views are pretty nice.
My issues is that I left after playing feeling a little let down. I just didn't feel like I got what I expected from the experience. Maybe it was all of the hype it had gotten from some of my golfing buddies. Or maybe I was just having a bad day. Either way, I left with the impression that this course is like many of the other courses I play in the area for $45-$50 a round. Only this one is 3 times the money.
If the views are what you are after I suggest taking a drive to the club house and get out and look around. Once you have seen everything get back in your car and go play your normal track. |
