This course was built in a wooded area. Water hazards come into play on one hole on the front nine, while the hilly back nine is best known for its tree-lined fairways. "Golf Digest" rated this 77th best out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 88th best for 1997-98. The same publication also rated it as the 4th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 5th best for 1997-98. In addition, "GOLFWEEK" ranked it 72nd among "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997, 87th in 1998 and 92nd in 1999. The course has been redesigned several times over the years, most recently by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. in 1986. This club only has a limited amount of riding carts; therefore, these carts are reserved for persons with disabilities or for anyone with a medical excuse not to walk.
