This course is long and has plenty of water, sand, wind, and trees coming into play throughout its design. "Golf Digest" rated this as the 11th "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and the 9th best for 1997-98. The 6,069-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 75.9 and a slope of 137.

| I heard a great deal about the course before I played it in June of 2004. It is tough but fair. Touches of Nicklaus can be seen everywhere with elevated greens and tough greenside bunkers. The course maintenance was perfect. Greens were fast and (unfortunately for this golfer) fair. A real test for all the clubs in your bag. The course runs through some of the most beautiful homes you'll ever see. |

| Wynstone is situated on a topographically diverse landscape, unbecoming of many Chicagoland golf venues. It has abundant wildlife which adds to the course's balance between a parkland and wetland. Wynstone also offers a unique challenge for any golfer. Not only is the golf course difficult at 7,000+ yards, but also presents a challenge to any comers at 6,500. Both birdies and bogies are easily found throughout the track. Finally, the course is maintained hard and fast. Fairways and greens are firm which requires and rewards shotmaking. |
