BIG difference between front 9 and back 9. Both are breathtaking. Count on losing some balls but you won't mind. Greens are pool-table smooth but have some tricks built in. I think Fred Sabastian, owner & designer-builder of the course 35 years ago, should consider re-numbering the holes so that #9 finishes at the clubhouse & # 10 should tee off next to # 1. That would make a start on the back 9 handy. Course DOES NOT play short. Use all your clubs. Take some chances. Try the chili dogs and have yourself some repeat customer fun. Carts are gas and state of the art. No GPS,(thank god).

Played this course twice while in Wilkesboro, once in July and again in November. The course plays short but shot selection is key. Conditions are great around greens, and the fairways, elevation changes, and occasional creeks give you that natural North Carolina Golfing feel. The best part was I played 18 holes and a cart for $14. It's hard to beat for the money.

Shadow Hawk Golf Club
"Fall Visit"
Shadow Hawk is a beautiful venue. The course is hard to rate in the middle of winter when the trees are not in bloom and leafy. The fairways are open and more than fair. The greens are as challenging as they come. They are filled with undulations that make straight putts rare. The greens roll fair and pretty fast. The clubhouse is very classy and comfortable (in winter, nicer than the course itself). I would hope to play this course again in summer (heat and all) to see the beauty. Meadows Golf Club
"Challenging for public"
This is one of the best, and most challenging, public courses in the Denver metro area. The only downfall for the Meadows is the pace of play during the weekends. Overall, the Meadows is a must play.

Overton Park Golf Course
"Great for Beginners"
My son and I(mother) started playing golf about a year ago and this was the first course we played on and we liked it. No pressure from other golfers and mostly everyone there were beginners, elderly or people who had been away from the game a while. The course does offer you challenges so it isn't a bad course. But if you are an experienced golfer you would probably be disappointed with this course.
