Locals state the course is extremely well manicured and a lot of fun to play. A new clubhouse opened in the fall of 1997. The 2,550-yard men's tee also has a ladies' course rating of 34.3 and slope of 111. The 2,100-yard ladies' tee also has a men's course rating of 30.8 and slope of 98.

Links like course with a view!, Aug 31, 2004
reviewer: William Marsh from Chicago
The 9 hole course sits atop a land fill with lovely teritorial vistas including a nice view of the Chicago skyline. Fairways are narrow and bordered by deep grassy mounds. You have the feel of a Links course where wind can become a factor. Most tee shots will be irons that you want to keep low and let run long. A Par 5 was the only time I used a driver. I used a 3 or 5 iron off most tees. Decent greens offer various challenges to approach shots and putting. The grassy mounds are hazards to be avoided. A fun course that can be enjoyed by all levels.

Golf Course with a view, Apr 27, 2004
reviewer: Dan Oleksiuk from Northbrook,Illinois
Resting at the top of an old landfill, that I recall as a kid, I have played Willow Hill a few times in the past years. Twice already this year with my friend Mike. The first day we went out was twilight at 6pm on a Monday. $10, you cant beat that! Picture perfect sunset as the sun set around 7:30pm and being able to view 360' degrees around and downtown Chicago perfectly, which is about 20 miles away! What a sight(site)! There are no water hazards or one single cotton pickn' TREE!! Yes, not one tree! Ahh, what a blessing. Nice moderately narrow fairways bunkered in by rolling mounds of thick rough and nicely positioned sand traps. This course is "strangely" nice. Every time Mike and I are "up" there, we both will say at one point during the round, "Hey man, this is a really great course!"
