This flat, tree-lined course is loaded with magnificent scenery. Water hazards come into play once every three holes, and there are sand bunkers spread throughout the entire course. For many years this men-only club was home to the PGA Tour's Western Open. "Golf Digest" rated this 49th out of "America's 100 Greatest Courses" for 1995-96, and 58th best for 1997-98. The magazine also rated it as the 3rd "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and 4th best for 1997-98. In addition, "GOLF Magazine" ranked it 64th in the category of the "Top 100 Courses in the U.S." for 1995, 84th in 1997 and 94th in 1999. "GOLFWEEK" awarded it 63rd among "America's 100 Best Modern Courses" for 1997, 89th for 1998 and 79th for 1999. Dick Nugent has done redesigns on the course. Members are allowed to walk the course, however their guests may not.

Best I have ever Played, Aug 04, 2011
reviewer: Selbo from Countryside, IL
This course is by leaps and bounds the greatest private club I have ever played. This club is for the man's man. If you are easily intimidated in life or professionally don't even drive thru the front gate...expect to get your ass kicked on some holes and score on some others. This is a long exhaustive mental battle as well as pysical as when you play the back tees you are playing 7000+ yards...dont ever pass your opportunity to play here....this is the greatest golfing experience you will have!!

I would definately say that the course is very well designed. Some holes narrow and lined with trees on both sides, others wide open but with great length. The course challenges even the best of golfers and is guarenteed to be a fun golfing experience. The caddies prove to be truly helpful with their thorough knowledge of the course layout and are overall a friendy group of people. I would definately recommend the course to anyone with deep pockets and a skin compexion that only stays tan 2 seasons out of the year.

butler could quite possibly be the best golf course in all of the midwest. the staff of the club was excellent, the valet was a bit pushy though. the caddies were all excellent. other than that, everything was excellent and if you have a lot of money to blow, i would do it.
