The 1937 Oakland Open was played here and was won by Sam Snead. The fairways are narrow and tree lined so you must be accurate. The greens are fast and sloping, and there are many bunkers spread throughout the course. Alister Mackenzie (1920), Robert Muir Graves (1987), and Brad Benz and Mike Poellot (1989) have done redesigns on this course.

| The Claremont CC is very well maintained and packs plenty of challenge into a relative short track. However, the good conditioning, trees and terrain make it very enjoyable. Used many of the clubs in my bag and found the narrow fairways and small greens to be very important to find - otherwise no play! Classic old clubhouse - a terrace that is very inviting for drinks - active family area around the pool and good looking tennis facility. Don't let the total yards fool you into missing a chance to play here. |
